Alicia Keys launches Athleta collection on International Women’s Day

A true icon and philanthropist with 15 GRAMMYs, Alicia Keys is an advisor and mentor for the Power of She fund. Today, she has launched a new limited-time Athleta collection. Keys’ new Athleta collection embodies the idea of empowerment for all women. Here’s the scoop:

“Embarking on my path toward well-being has meant honoring my truest, most vulnerable self. It’s why, together, we’re working to arm women and girls with the tools needed to step into our power, our potential, our possibility,” Alicia Keys shared.

Alicia Keys’ foundation for a healthy lifestyle is her connection with her mind, body, and spirit. Her new Athleta collection includes limited-edition styles designed with the theme of women’s empowerment. Athleta x Alicia Keys launched today, International Women’s Day (March 8). Alicia Keys’ new Athleta collection has a variety of options (also located on Instagram). Her new collection features 16 products including the Keys Utility Jumpsuit, Keys Maxi Robe, and the Keys High Waist Utility Pant.

Through her new Athleta collection, Keys is expressing her full support for the well-being of all women and girls. Athleta x Alicia Keys is a modern fashion movement of comfortable clothing and empowerment. Inspired by her personal journey, Athleta x Alicia Keys is designed to celebrate all women. Dwyane Wade, a former guard with the Miami Heat, received honorary recognition for his athleticism and philanthropy work. Wade is a 3× NBA champion, 13× NBA All-Star (2005-2016, 2019) and an NBA All-Star Game MVP. Additionally, Wade won the 2012-13 NBA Community Assist Award during the 2012-2013 season. Wade also received honorary recognition for being the Miami Heat’s all-time assists leader and leading scorer. He received two ESPY awards: Best NBA player and Best Breakthrough Athlete. An avid philanthropist, Wade supported the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as an ambassador for their Hoops for St. Jude basketball initiative.

“I feel complete. That’s why I was able to walk away from the game like I did, because I felt complete,” Dwyane Wade responded. “My career, it surpassed everything that I ever dreamed of. I think that’s the thing, some guys don’t accomplish some of the things that they want to, and they feel like they still have something in them from that standpoint. For me, I’m complete, man. I’ve done everything I wanted to do and more.”

J. J. Watt raises $20M for Hurricane Harvey relief

J. J. Watt raised $20M for the Hurricane Harvey relief. Here’s the scoop:

J.J. Watt is an NFL superstar and professional football player. The Houston Texans athlete has received four Pro Bowl selection awards, three AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards, and two NFL sacks leader awards. Also, Watt set an NFL record by becoming the first defensive football player who scored over 20 sacks in multiple seasons.

In addition to playing football, J. J. Watt is a philanthropist. He is the founder and president of the Justin J. Watt Foundation. This foundation provides after-school opportunities for kids as well as a safe environment for children to practice athletic sports. “Dream Big, Work Hard” is this foundation’s motto. The Charity Classic is one of the foundation’s most popular games. This year, he invited actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Olympic swimming champion Simone Manuel to the Charity Classic game.

Recently J. J. Watt started a crowdraising fund on YouCaring.com. The purpose of this fund is to aid all Houston residents who were affected by Hurricane Harvey. Watt recently visited Houston, Texas to help distribute necessities like food and water:

“The biggest part of it all is to be able to see the power of what can happen when people come together. That’s the beauty of the people in this country… We’re trying to raise as much as we can because we know that these recovery efforts are going to be massive,” Watt said.

With leadership and teamwork, J. J. Watt exemplifies the meaning of a true hero. Over 184 thousand donors helped Watt by sending small and large sums of money. Also, Ellen DeGeneres donated $1 million and Drake sent $200,000 to support Watt’s crowdraising fund. J. J. Watt set the initial goal to $200,000 when he started his crowdraising fund on YouCaring. Now, the funds of his initial goal have multiplied by 100 times. J. J. Watt has successfully achieved the $20 million goal. However, this is only just the beginning.

“Every single time we hit one of these landmarks, I’m amazed. I’ve said it so many times before, but I think the worst times bring out the best in people… We want to take care of the immediate needs first… For the long term, obviously, the plan has changed a little bit since it was a $200,000 goal. You guys are incredible. I understand that you’re trusting me in this situation. So I want to make sure that I do it right. I want to do right by everybody who donated and I want to make sure that we do right by the people of Houston,” Watt stated.

Michael Phelps and wife Nicole expecting Baby No. 2

Michael Phelps and his wife, Nicole, are expecting their second child. Here’s the scoop:

International superstar Michael Phelps is a professional Olympian swimmer. Phelps has won 23 Olympics gold medals and 11 American Swimmer of the Year awards. Phelps joins Aaron Rodgers and Stephen Curry in the list of Associated Press Athlete of the Year winners. He founded the Michael Phelps Foundation, which raises awareness about living a healthy lifestyle while encouraging kids to participate in the sport of swimming. He received the Legend Award at this year’s Kids Choice Sports Awards. In June 2016, Michael and Nicole Phelps became a married couple. On May 5, 2016, they welcomed their first child named Boomer Robert Phelps. Nicole Johnson-Phelps is a model and former Miss California USA winner. Also, she graduated from USC with a Bachelor’s degree in communications with a focus on sports and entertainment.

Access Hollywood reports that Michael Phelps’ mother knew that Nicole Johnson was the one for him. Now, 15-month-old Boomer will have a younger sibling. On Tuesday, the couple announced that they are expecting a second child with this Instagram post:
