Pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne made a special appearance at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards and presented the landmark award to Green Day. On the yellow carpet, Avril Lavigne shared her favorite thing about touring and talked about her ‘Greatest Hits Tour’, kicking off in May. Here is a quick recap:
“I used to write your lyrics, like, in my diary daily… You are iconic, legendary… You are everything,” Tanya Rad told Avril Lavigne.
Avril Lavigne is an inspiration to people around the world including musicians and non-musicians. As a singer/songwriter, Lavigne’s lyrics resonate with people internationally. This was highlighted on the yellow carpet when Avril spoke with EJ and Tanya Rad. After EJ mentioned the Musical Synergy Club, Tanya Rad said she used to have a Musical Synergy club in high school and she often wrote Lavigne’s lyrics in her diary. Then, she asked Lavigne how it feels to inspire so many people through her lyrics:
“It’s crazy! It’s amazing! I love the fact that, like, my songs, like, meant something, you know, to so many people and, like, just even being up on stage hearing them sing along with the lyrics… It’s very humbling. It’s really cool,” Avril Lavigne responded.
On the yellow carpet, Avril Lavigne announced that the ‘Greatest Hits Tour’ is her seventh tour. When EJ asked Lavigne what her favorite thing about touring was, she responded by talking about her unique fan engagement especially during live concerts. After EJ asked Lavigne what her favorite thing about going on tour and meeting the fans, Avril Lavigne voiced her thoughts on touring:
“…It doesn’t get old… Just like walking out there onstage and feeling and seeing a crowd of people and hearing them sing the songs is just incredible. I’m from a super small town in Canada. You know, I didn’t ever know anything like this was possible and just to be able to make music and to be 22 years into my career and still touring… I love it. I love what I do and I feel blessed,” Lavigne voiced.
Avril Lavigne’s ‘Greatest Hits Tour’ begins in Canada on May 22. This tour also includes international concerts at The Rogers Arena, Kia Forum, MGM Grand Garden Arena, and France’s Main Square Festival.
