Honoring Earth Day 2022 with Microsoft

This year, the ARTSNLA team is honoring Earth Day by discussing Microsoft’s positive impact on the planet. For Microsoft, every day is an opportunity to help the environment while making a positive difference. Here’s the scoop:

Microsoft is truly dedicated to the art of sustainability as an essential element of their culture and ambitions. Since 2012, this organization has been completely carbon neutral. Today, Microsoft announced their progress towards becoming a carbon negative, water positive, and zero waste business. The Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability is currently being used to meet this goal by 2030. And by 2050, Microsoft plans to remove all the carbon it has emitted. Microsoft has also created packaging from bamboo and sugar cane, and extracted copper from wastewater for use in their devices.

As a thriving ecosystem, Microsoft is taking great steps to help create enduring positive environmental change. New Earth Day-themed backgrounds have been designed for Microsoft Teams video to help increase awareness about carbon negativity and water usage. Also, custom Microsoft Edge browser themes designed to highlight the importance of environmental stewardship are coming soon. And new emojis have been launched on Microsoft Teams. This week, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande landed at #5 on YouTube Trending. Here’s the scoop:

The Weeknd and Ariana Grande performed together at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards. They sang “Save Your Tears (Remix)” as the audience sang and danced along to the upbeat tune. Also, Ariana Grande effortlessly sang a whistle note during this performance while wearing her wedding ring. The Weeknd and Ariana Grande expressed their mutual support at the end of their performance. In less than 24 hours, this performance has landed at #5 on YouTube Trending. Also, the official YouTube video of this performance has received over 1.4M views and 161k likes.

With 8 nominations and 5 wins, the Weeknd was one of the biggest winners at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” won in three categories, including Song of the Year. Ariana Grande received 6 nominations including 3 awards for “Rain on Me”, her collaboration with Lady Gaga. Guitarist Sungha Jung has 5.2M YouTube subscribers and 1.54B views. He also has 252k Twitter followers. Jung received his first guitar at age 9 and started posting his hand-crafted acoustic arrangements to YouTube. Since then, Jung kept practicing and showed his true dedication to playing the acoustic guitar. Jung’s beautiful acoustic arrangements consistently display his technicality and attention to detail.

Multi-platinum saxophonist Boney James is widely recognized for his smooth, signature sound. James is a seasoned instrumentalist who sings soulfully through the saxophone. His music showcases the elements of improvisation and storytelling. He has sold more than 3 million albums and earned four RIAA Gold certifications. Billboard Magazine named Boney James the No. 3 Contemporary Jazz Artist of the Decade. Also, ten of James’s songs charted at No. 1 on Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs.

Boney James’ sixteenth album, Honestly, debuted on September 1. Now, Honestly is No. 1 on Billboard‘s Jazz Album and Contemporary Jazz Album charts. This is Boney James’ fifth No. 1 Billboard Jazz Album, and his fifteenth Billboard No. 1 record.
