Brynn Cartelli wins season 14 of ‘The Voice’, collaborates with Julia Michaels

Brynn Cartelli won The Voice‘s fourteenth season. She also collaborated with Julia Michaels, a rising singer-songwriter in today’s music scene. Here’s the scoop:

During The Voice‘s season finale, Brynn Cartelli performed with Julia Michaels. Julia co-wrote “Sorry” and “Friends” by Justin Bieber. She also wrote “Fire Starter” for Demi Lovato and “Miss Movin’ On” by Fifth Harmony. In addition, Julia Michaels also writes her music.

Onstage, Brynn and Julia sang “Issues” and “Jump” together. Brynn also sang “Walk My Way”, an original song. Julia Michaels co-wrote “Walk My Way” before the live finale. Brynn Cartelli and Kelly Clarkson sang “Don’t Dream It’s Over” as a duet. Brynn covered Adele’s “Skyfall” and performed live as strings played in the background.

NBC’s The Voice reveals season 14 finalists

On May 15, four singers advanced to The Voice‘s season 14 finale. It will feature surprise collaborations and original music from the finalists. Here’s the scoop:

Britton Buchanan sang “Dancing on My Own” and received the Instant Save during The Voice‘s semifinals. After Buchanan was saved from elimination, he became a season 14 finalist. He recorded music with John Davenport, an engineer who released “Riptide” by Robert Palmer and “Born in the U.S.A.” by Bruce Springsteen. Britton Buchanan is on Team Alicia. His sound is a signature blend of pop and adult contemporary music.

Spensha Baker sang “My Church” during The Voice‘s semifinals. Spensha Baker is a singer on Team Blake, and her music combines elements of country and gospel. When Baker was 12, Interscope Records released her first gospel album. Now, Spensha Baker sings country music while incorporating her signature sound and stage presence.

Brynn Cartelli sang “What the World Needs Now” during The Voice‘s semifinals. Brynn Cartelli is a singer on Team Kelly, and she has a strong stage presence. Her music fuses pop and adult contemporary. At age 6, Cartelli became an established singer by participating in school talent and variety shows. In addition to music, she plays lacrosse and has a busy school schedule. She is the youngest finalist in The Voice history.

Kyla Jade sang “Let it Be” and received the public’s vote during The Voice‘s semifinals. This video landed in the Top 50 of YouTube Trending. On May 19, it reached #45 on YouTube’s trending list. Kyla Jade is on Team Blake, and her music blends gospel with R&B and soul. A powerhouse vocalist, she sang backup vocals for Jennifer Hudson.

NBC’s The Voice reveals top 10 of season 12

On Tuesday, NBC’s The Voice revealed season 12’s top 10. Here’s the scoop:

Before the top 10 were revealed, Alisan Porter performed “Deep Water” live. Alisan Porter won The Voice‘s tenth season. She was on Team Christina, which means that she worked with Christina Aguilera. Alisan sported a teal outfit with subtle makeup while singing this powerful song. Alisan Porter also tweeted about “Deep Water” to her fans:

Also, season 12’s top 11 performed on stage. Team Gwen performed Coldplay’s “Fix You”. Team Alicia performed Aretha Franklin’s “A Natural Woman”. Then, Carson Daly said that the following singers were safe: Brennley Brown, Hunter Plake, Lilli Passero, TSoul, Vanessa Ferguson, Chris Blue, Aliyah Moulden, Jesse Larson, and Lauren Duski.

Then, Stephanie Rice and Mark Isaiah sang for the Instant Save. First, Stephanie Rice performed “Issues” by Julia Michaels. Alicia Keys praised Stephanie’s artistry before adding that she is a talented producer who plays multiple instruments. Second, Mark Isaiah performed “7 Years” by Lukas Graham. Adam Levine praised Mark’s artistry and grace under intense pressure. Here is the official list of season 12’s top 10:

Radio Disney Music Awards 2017 highlights

The 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards was aired live on April 30 from Los Angeles’s Microsoft Theater. The 5th annual Radio Disney Music Awards featured a long list of today’s biggest pop superstars. Here’s the scoop:

Sofia Carson, Alex Aiono, Kelsea Ballerini, Jordan Fisher, and Jenna Ortega hosted the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. This telecast started with a countdown to the Descendants 2 world premiere. The Disney Channel will air this movie on Friday, July 21 at 8:00pm. This premiere featured the high-energy “Wicked” music video. Today, this video is #19 on YouTube’s trending list. Alessia Cara performed twice during the 5th annual RDMAs. First, she performed the Moana soundtrack entitled “How Far I’ll Go” with Auli’i Cravalho. Their effortless vocal runs shined throughout the song. This performance featured backup dancers and a beautiful sunset ocean backdrop. Jordan Fisher joined them towards the end of the song. He harmonized with Alessia and Auli’i at the end of this performance.

Alessia Cara also performed “Scars to Your Beautiful”, from Know-It-All. After she performed her catchy tune, Radio Disney tweeted this:

“Scars to Your Beautiful” is an empowering self-love anthem. Alessia helps her fans overcome their insecurities and learn to love themselves. She sings these powerful lyrics: “There’s a hope that’s waiting for you in the dark… You’re beautiful just the way you are”. This was a beautiful and moving performance.

Julia Michaels performed “Issues”, her latest hit. Madison Pettis and Peyton Elizabeth Lee introduced her to the stage. They mentioned that she wrote songs for Justin Bieber and Gwen Stefani. Julia Michaels wore a purple outfit, and her backup dancers sported all-black outfits. This upbeat performance featured a backdrop of an outline sketch of a boy and girl with “issues” appearing around it.

Nick Jonas received the Hero Award, which was presented by Jack Black. Before the RDMAs, Demi Lovato showed her support towards Nick Jonas. “Nick, I love you so much. Proud of you. Hope you have an awesome time at the show,” Demi said.

Jack Black introduced Nick Jonas to the stage. He mentioned that Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Then, Nick Jonas walked up to the stage with a group of kids who also have the disease. He said that we all have the power to change the world. Also, Nick Jonas encouraged others to raise their voice and make a difference. Nick Jonas was honored to receive the Hero Award. He thanked Radio Disney and Jack Black. Nick thanked his personal heroes: his father, mother, and brothers.

Britney Spears received the first-ever Icon Award. Before this, she was honored with a special tribute. Kelsea Ballerini performed “Oops, I Did It Again…”, Hailee Steinfeld sang “Circus”, and Sofia Carson performed “Baby One More Time”. Sofia Carson also gave Britney Spears a shoutout. She thanked Britney with this tweet:

Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney’s younger sister, presented the first RDMA Icon Award. Jamie introduced Britney to the stage and mentioned that Britney is her favorite pop star of all time. Britney was honored to receive the first-ever Icon Award. She thanked her fans and said they are “the freakin’ best”. Britney also gave a warm shoutout to her two sons.

The 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards was filled with A-list performances. Some of the biggest stars also took home RDMAs trophies. Bruno Mars won the “Best Song That Makes You Smile” award. Niall Horan received the “Best Male Artist” award, and Ariana Grande won the “Best Female Artist” award. Click here to see the full list of winners.
