Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve is a must-see New Year’s staple. Last year, 35 million people watched the Rockin Eve ceremony on ABC. These Nielsen ratings prove that the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve television program is in high demand. Taylor Swift, Nick Jonas, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato are among the list of celebrities who have performed at previous Rockin Eve ceremonies. This year is Rockin Eve’s forty-fifth anniversary of bringing large crowds together.

Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, and Alessia Cara will perform at the 2017 Rockin’ Eve ceremony. Grammy-nominated artist Demi Lovato’s feature performance will be streamed from her show in St. Maarten, a stop on her Celebrity Cruises tour. Lovato was featured in Billboard magazine as well as the June/ July 2016 cover of Latina Magazine. Demi’s latest album, Confident, received a well-deserved Grammy nomination in the Best Pop Vocal Album category. With over 40 million Twitter followers, Demi inspires her fans to stay strong as a recording artist, actress, and philanthropist.

Shawn Mendes’s live album, Live at Madison Square Garden, will be released this Friday. He sent this tweet to confirm the news to his fans. His latest album, Illuminate, is the second album to hit No. 1 on Billboard. Mendes, who toured with Taylor Swift, now has over 8 million Twitter followers. Drake, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Bruno Mars turn heads at 2016 AMAs (Flashback)

The American Music Awards is globally popular because it honors today’s most famous and influential artists. On November 20, ABC broadcasted the 2016 American Music Awards live. This year’s event took place at the Microsoft Theater. According to ABC projections, 8.8 million people tuned in to watch the American Music Awards this year. Drake, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Bruno Mars are among the standouts because they turned heads with their outstanding achievements.

This year’s A-list performers included Maroon 5/ Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Shawn Mendes and Fifth Harmony. Each performance was impressive because of its authenticity and effort. Drake and Bieber won 4 AMAs, Gomez inspired many with her AMAs speech, and Mars moved the crowd with his dance routine. Also, musical icon Sting performed his greatest hits at the AMAs before receiving the Merit Award.

Bruno Mars opened the show with his “24k Magic” performance. It featured synchronized choreography, matching outfits, and strategic lighting. The performance featured blue lighting and special effects that included fireworks. “24k Magic” brought a refreshing 90’s vibe, where flashy bling and partying were the cool new trends. Mars and his squad sported track suits with navy, white, and yellow stripes. Ciara and others were seen singing along. Mars’ hard work paid off, as “24k Magic” remains in the top 10 iTunes charts. “24k Magic” reached #1 in the following iTunes categories: top songs, top albums, and top music videos.

Drake’s Apple Music commercial premiere was another highlight at the AMAs. Drake is seen talking with friends and listening to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” while lifting a heavy weight. Selena Gomez earned the “Favorite Female Artist – Pop/ Rock” AMA award. Gomez, who has 46M Twitter followers, moved the audience with her empowering speech. A poised Gomez received overwhelming applause from the audience. She also received support from a long list of celebrities that include Taylor Swift, Niall Horan, Ariana Grande, and Lady GaGa. Justin Bieber made record-breaking history at the 2016 AMAs. Bieber received 4 AMAs, including Video of the Year for his smash hit “Sorry” and Favorite Pop/ Rock Album for Purpose. Justin Bieber is now one of the top 10 all-time AMA winners. Bieber sits at #7 and is currently tied with Willie Nelson. Bieber and Nelson have received 12 AMA awards. At 22, Bieber is one of the youngest people to make the top 10 AMAs winners list.

2016 AMAs: Sting, Bieber, Drake, Rihanna among standouts

The 2016 American Music Awards is a must-see global awards show that recognizes today’s most influential and iconic artists. Billboard, Nielsen Entertainment, and Next Big Sound measure fan interactions with today’s biggest music artists. The 2016 American Music Awards will feature A-list performers including Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Niall Horan, Bruno Mars, and Fifth Harmony. This year marks Grande’s fourth AMAs performance.

Drake and Rihanna are among this year’s AMA standouts. Drake received 13 nominations, while Rihanna earned 7 nominations. To add, Justin Bieber and Adele both received 5 AMA nominations. Drake broke Michael Jackson’s 32-year record for the most AMA nominations this year. Michael Jackson earned 11 nominations in 1984. This year, Drake received 13 nominations at the AMAs. He is the second artist to earn 10+ nominations for an award show this year. Kendrick Lamar received 11 nominations for the 2016 Grammys. Lamar’s collaboration with Swift, “Bad Blood”, earned 2 nominations that included Best Music Video. Drake’s collaboration with Rihanna, “Work”, is up for 3 nominations this year. “Work” is nominated for collaboration of the year, video of the year, and favorite R&B song.

Justin Bieber is nominated for these AMA categories: Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Album, Favorite Song – Country and Video of the Year. This year, Bieber has high chances of becoming one of the biggest AMA champions in history. Bieber’s Purpose is the sixth album to hit the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200. Purpose is his 5th album that sold more than a million copies in the U.S. His catchy hit “Sorry” is nominated for Video of the Year. Also, Bieber is nominated for Artist of the Year. With 89.5 million loyal Twitter fans, Bieber is a contender to win at least one of the categories that he earned a nomination for.

Rihanna receives Vanguard Award and 2016 MTV Video Music Awards recap

The 2016 VMAs took place on August 28 at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York. This star-studded event featured the latest trending videos and fan favorites. The list of presenters included Jimmy Fallon, Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian, Aly Raisman, Fifth Harmony, Drake, and Kim Kardashian. Here is the recap:

Rihanna shined bright like a diamond at the VMAs, as she was one of the biggest winners of the evening. She opened and closed the show with a 4-part set that featured a shuffled selection of her hit songs. This list includes “Only Girl (In the World)”, “We Found Love”, and “Diamonds”. Mary J. Blige introduced Rihanna’s closing number,”Love On The Brain”. (Rihanna also performed this soulful tune at the Billboard Music Awards.)

Also, Rihanna is this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient. With over 64 million Twitter followers, Rihanna has made her mark in the industry as an international icon that impacts music, pop culture, fashion, film, and philanthropy. At 28, Rihanna joins the prestigious list of Vanguard Award recipients that include Justin Timberlake, Madonna, and Britney Spears. Drake presented the Vanguard Award to Rihanna. Drake also delivered a heartfelt and respectful speech. In the speech, he said that Rihanna is “a living, breathing legend”.

Beyoncé was another big winner at the VMAs. This year Beyoncé won 8 VMA awards and she was nominated for 11 categories. “Formation” received 6 awards that include Best Direction and Best Pop Video. It also won the Video of the Year award, which Jimmy Fallon presented to Beyoncé. “Hold Up” received the Best Female Video award. Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian, and Aly Raisman presented this VMA award.

Adele received 8 nominations at this year’s VMAs along with well-deserved recognition on YouTube. Adele’s “Hello” received 7 nominations that include Best Editing, Best Female Video, Cinematography, and Visual Effects. “Hello” has achieved the rare milestone of being featured in the top 10 most viewed YouTube videos of all time. Right now “Hello” stands strong at #6 with 1.7 billion views on YouTube. “Hello” reached 1 billion views on YouTube in 87 days, breaking Psy’s record.

The Chainsmokers and Halsey delivered an intimate performance of “Closer”. Their show featured strategic blue lighting, keyboard players, raw vocals, and lots of confetti at the end. “Closer” debuted at #1 on the iTunes singles chart. It joined Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, and others in the top 10 iTunes charts.

Then Kim Kardashian announced Britney Spears and G-Eazy‘s entrance to the VMAs stage. They performed “Me, Myself & I” and “Make Me…”, which is from her new album Glory. This performance featured structured choreography and colorful lighting.

Fifth Harmony presented the Best New Artist award to DNCE. Then Joe Jonas spoke on behalf of the group. Jonas mentioned the power of creating and evolving as an artist in his speech. The experience of winning Best New Artist was surreal for the group, as they later expressed gratitude towards their fans with this tweet. DNCE’s win proves that tenacity and hard work pays off in the long run. Success is always possible when you make a daily commitment to your dream goals. Don’t stop believing.

2016 iHeartRadio music awards recap

On April 3, 2016, Jason Derulo hosted the third iHeartRadio Music Awards at The Forum. Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Selena Gomez and Zendaya were among this evening’s presenters. This award show featured an incomparable list of talent. Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, and Adele received the most nominations. This year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards was unforgettable.

Each performance at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards was memorable. Here are the highlights:

Justin Bieber performed “Love Yourself” and “Company” live. Bieber played acoustic guitar while singing “Love Yourself”. “Company” featured an in-sync choreography routine and colorful blue and white lighting. Bieber delivered an authentic performance that welcomed the audience.

Kelly Osbourne honored Demi Lovato as “one of the biggest and most powerful female voices of the world today” before introducing her performance. Demi Lovato performed “Stone Cold”, her hit song from Confident. Brad Paisley accompanied Demi as the guitarist who wowed the audience with his soulful riffs. Together, Demi and Brad delivered a show-stopping, soulful acoustic performance.

KeKe Palmer introduced DNCE and Nile Rodgers. “Cake by the Ocean” is a groovy song that features Joe Jonas. This song’s performance featured colorful, disco-themed lighting. JinJoo Lee, the guitarist with pink hair, played amazing guitar riffs. Joe Jonas sported a black leather jacket with a black-and-white striped shirt. At one point, Joe sang “Cake by the Ocean” to Demi!

During the bridge, two backup singers joined DNCE to mashup “Cake by the Ocean” and Chic’s “Le Freak”. One was wearing a bright yellow dress, and the other was wearing a bright pink dress. “Cake by the Ocean”, DNCE’s new smash hit, is rising in popularity. The music video for this song gained over 40 million views on YouTube in 5 months.

Taylor Swift received the most honorary awards of the evening. She received four well-deserved awards: Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (1989), Best Tour, and Most Meme-able Moment.

Justin Bieber was honored with three awards. Bieber received the Male Artist of the Year award. He was also the winner of the Best Fan Army award (Beliebers). “Where Are Ü Now“, Bieber’s collaboration with Skrillex and Diplo, was honored as the Dance Song of the Year.

Adele’s “Hello” won Song of the Year. Adele was unable to attend the iHeartRadio Music Awards because she was touring. Adele expressed her gratitude in her acceptance speech live from Birmingham. “Hello” has gained over 1.4 billion views on YouTube. “Hello” holds the record for reaching a billion views in only 84 days. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars won the Best Collaboration award for their hit single “Uptown Funk”. Currently, “Uptown Funk” has over 1.5 billion views on YouTube.

Pop singer, actor and dancer Selena Gomez received the Biggest Triple Threat award. Calvin Harris won the Dance Artist of the Year award. U2 was the recipient of the iHeartRadio Innovator Award.
