The 2016 Kids Choice Awards took place on March 12 at The Forum in Inglewood. Blake Shelton, a coach and mentor on The Voice, hosted this year’s Kids Choice Awards. The opening skit was enjoyable as it showed Shelton’s genuine persona and good sense of humor in relating to live audiences.

Pop artist Ariana Grande received the Favorite Female Singer award. Pop star Justin Bieber received the Favorite Male Singer award. Rising star Shawn Mendes won the award for Favorite New Music Artist. Zendaya won the award for Favorite TV Star in KC Undercover.  In Zendaya’s winning speech, she expressed her devotion to provide children with positive television programming that helps to encourage moral family values and high self-esteem. Jennifer Lawrence received the Favorite Movie Actress award for playing the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games. Also, Just Dance 2016 received the Favorite Video Game award.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was honored with the Favorite Movie award. Honestly, I am a huge fan of the Star Wars sequel and they deserve this award and recognition. As a billion-dollar franchise, Star Wars is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most successful film merchandising franchise in the entertainment industry.

Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” performance was soulful and moving. Joe Jonas’ comic-themed performance with DNCE was lively and colorful. DNCE entered center stage before performing “Cake by the Ocean” on top of a large cake-shaped prop. During this performance, Joe Jonas ran through the audience singing to fans with high energy in a way that impressed the audience.

Adele’s new hit single “Hello” was honored with the Favorite Song Award.  In addition to Adele’s win, “Hello” is a global phenomenon that moved the world with her pure artistry. It now has over 1.3 billion views on YouTube.
