The 74th annual Golden Globes is taking place this Sunday at the Beverly Hilton. This star-studded awards show is known for recognizing the hard work and achievements of actors in film and American television. Here is the scoop on this year’s Golden Globes telecast:

In the film department, several movies stood out as contenders with multiple nominations. La La Land leads with 7, Moonlight received 6, Florence Foster Jenkins received 4, while Moana and Fences each received 2 honors.

Ryan Gosling (La La Land), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Simon Helberg (Florence Foster Jenkins), Hailee Steinfeld (The Edge of Seventeen), Viola Davis (Fences), and Natalie Portman (Jackie) are among the list of nominated film actors.

Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder, and Lin Manuel-Miranda have also received recognition. They join the list of nominees in the “Best Original Song” category for their contributions to film soundtracks.

Florence Foster Jenkins and Big Bang Theory actor Simon Helberg was humbled upon receiving news that he was nominated. He tweeted this sincere message to thank the Golden Globes for the recognition:

Actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld was also humbled to hear about her nomination. She starred as the heroine in The Edge of Seventeen, an anthem for self-acceptance. Steinfeld tweeted this message to express her genuine excitement:

In the television department, several series stood out as contenders with multiple nominations. The People v. O.J. Simpson… leads with 5, The Night Manager received 4, Westworld received 3, and Stranger Things has 2 honors.

Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager), Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O. J. Simpson…), Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld), and Winona Ryder (Stranger Things) are among the list of nominated television actors.

Westworld and True Blood actress Evan Rachel Wood replied to @Variety’s tweet to send her support towards the “Best Actress in a TV Drama” nominees:

Jimmy Fallon is hosting this year’s Golden Globes awards show. Fallon has previously hosted MTV’s Video Music Awards, the Emmy Awards, and NBC’s Saturday Night Live. He currently hosts the Tonight Show, which airs on NBC. He posted this tweet, which the Golden Globe Awards retweeted:

Meryl Streep will receive this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. A Yale alumnae, Streep has received major recognition for her acting career. Meryl Streep has received 30 Golden Globes nominations and 8 Golden Globes awards. In addition, she has received 19 Academy Awards nominations. Streep is an all-time champion who is famous for her roles in Music of the Heart, Julie & Julia, and Into the Woods. Streep is a phenomenal inspiration who has gained adoration from people around the world.

Reese Witherspoon, Milo Ventimiglia, Sofia Vergara, and Leonardo DiCaprio will be presenters at the 74th annual Golden Globes. The Golden Globes ceremony airs January 8 on NBC at 5:00 p.m. PST and 8:00 p.m. EST.
