The North Carolina Tar Heels advanced to the 2017 NCAA March Madness championship. They dazzled American viewers by coming from behind and winning against the Oregon Ducks with a 1 point lead. Here’s the scoop:
First, the North Carolina Tar Heels turned heads at the Elite Eight game. The fourth quarter was intense because both teams moved with agility and speed on the court. Malik Monk, from the Kentucky Wildcats, tied the scores by making a series of 3-pointer shots. Luke Maye secured the Tar Heels victory with a 2-pointer buzzer beater shot during the last minute of the game. The North Carolina Tar Heels advanced to the Final Four games. Although the Kentucky Wildcats performed well, they did not advance to the Final Four.
NBC’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon aired a “Puppy Predictors” segment. Fallon introduced four bowls that were labeled after the NCAA Final Four teams: South Carolina, Gonzaga, Oregon, and North Carolina. Fallon added that the team’s bowl with the most puppies will win the NCAA Final Four championship. After Fallon released a group of puppies on stage, most of them ran to the Oregon Ducks-labeled bowl. Fallon then predicted that the Oregon Ducks will be named the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball national champions.
Then, game day arrived. The Oregon Ducks and North Carolina Tar Heels delivered an impressive game performance. This game kept people on their toes from start to finish. During the first half of the game, the Ducks and Tar Heels moved swiftly across the basketball court scoring initial points for both sides. The Tar Heels’ teamwork and determination shined on the court. After the first half, the Tar Heels gained a 3-point lead. While the Tar Heels scored 39 points, the Oregon Ducks scored 36 points.
During the second half, the Tar Heels’ offense players shined on the court. Kennedy Meeks scored 25 total points and 14 rebounds. He also scored 11 out of 13 field goals. Justin Jackson scored 22 points and 4 out of 9 three-pointer shots. Together, Meeks and Jackson scored 47 total points. During this game, the Tar Heels had 43 total rebounds. The final score was 77-76, and the Tar Heels defeated the Ducks.
The North Carolina Tar Heels have established a high reputation as the best offensive rebounding team in college basketball advancing to the championship with a 1 point lead.
On April 3, the North Carolina Tar Heels will play against the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The NCAA tournament championship game will air on CBS at 6:20 PST. This game will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Here, the NCAA Final Four champion will be named. Stay tuned.
