Malik Monk, from the Kentucky Wildcats, tied the scores by making a series of 3-pointer shots. Luke Maye secured the Tar Heels victory with a 2-pointer buzzer beater shot during the last minute of the game. The North Carolina Tar Heels advanced to the Final Four games. Although the Kentucky Wildcats performed well, they did not advance to the Final Four.

NBC’s The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon aired a “Puppy Predictors” segment. Fallon introduced four bowls that were labeled after the NCAA Final Four teams: South Carolina, Gonzaga, Oregon, and North Carolina. Fallon added that the team’s bowl with the most puppies will win the NCAA Final Four championship. After Fallon released a group of puppies on stage, most of them ran to the Oregon Ducks-labeled bowl. Fallon then predicted that the Oregon Ducks will be named the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball national champions.
