The 2017 Academy of Country Music awards took place at Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena. Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley hosted this CBS telecast. Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett took home the biggest ACMs trophies. Here’s the scoop:
Miranda Lambert won the Female Vocalist of the Year award. This category’s nominees include Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, and Carrie Underwood. This is Miranda Lambert’s eighth consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year win. Miranda Lambert’s acceptance speech was truly empowering. She dedicated this award to women in the country music industry, her fans, and her family. She also gave a shout out to Carrie Underwood. Also, Lambert’s The Weight of These Wings was named album of the year. As of April 4, Lambert’s “Tin Man” and The Weight of These Wings landed the #1 position of the iTunes top songs and albums charts.
Lambert performed “Tin Man”, a breakup ballad, at the 2017 ACMs. “Tin Man” landed the #1 position of iTunes’ top songs charts shortly after the ACMs ceremony. Her show-stopping solo performance featured a colorful acoustic guitar, raw vocals, and soft blue lighting. This performance was memorable because Lambert sang relatable lyrics from her heart and played the guitar beautifully. Billboard lists Lambert’s “Tin Man” performance as the second-best moment of the 2017 ACMs telecast.
Thomas Rhett won the Male Vocalist of the Year award. This category’s nominees include Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, and Dierks Bentley. Rhett, a father-to-be, said that receiving the Male Vocalist of the Year award was a humbling experience. He mentioned that the nominees in this category were his idols. Thomas Rhett thanked the Lord and the ACMs during his speech. Then, he added that the Male Vocalist of the Year award is the best honor that he received. Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man” took home the song of the year award.
Also, Thomas Rhett performed “Craving You” with Maren Morris. Rhett sported a black bomber jacket with white stripes, black pants, and sneakers. Morris debuted her new haircut, a long pink gown, and a golden microphone. This upbeat, radio-friendly tune lit up the stage with retro ‘80s vibes. Billboard lists the “Craving You” duet performance as the ninth-best moment of the 2017 ACMs telecast. As of April 4, “Craving You (feat. Maren Morris)” landed the #10 position of iTunes’s top songs charts.
