Bruno Mars performed “Perm” and won two BET Awards. Here’s the scoop:
The BET Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater. Bruno Mars kicked off the show with a high-energy performance of “Perm”. Mars and his band sported matching outfits and “Hooligans” striped shirts. This number featured synchronized choreography with his band and bright lighting. Mars engaged his audience throughout this performance.
Bruno Mars received five nominations and two trophies at the 2017 BET Awards. Mars’ “24k Magic” won the Video of the Year award. (Mars tied for the top prize with Beyoncé’s “Sorry”.) Bruno Mars also received the Best Male R&B/ Pop Artist award. Jamie Foxx and his children announced the winner live. Onstage, 11-time nominee Bruno Mars expressed gratitude towards his fans. He thanked BET’s CEO Debra Lee and producer Jesse Collins. Then Mars gave Stephen Hill a brief shoutout while expressing his support.
“You know, the first award I ever won was a Soul Train Award for a song I did with my friend B.o.B. called Nothin’ On You. BET has shown me nothing but love and supported my career throughout the years,” he said. Watch Mars’ full speech here.
