On Sunday, the 2017 American Music Awards featured some of music’s top stars in Los Angeles. The AMAs took place at L.A. Live’s Microsoft Theater. Bruno Mars, BTS, Demi Lovato, and Diana Ross shined at the American Music Awards. Here’s the scoop:
Multi-platinum artist Bruno Mars is the leading nominee at the 2017 American Music Awards. Mars received eight nominations and seven awards. Mars was named the Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/ Rock Male Artist, and Favorite Soul/ R&B Male Artist at the AMAs. Bruno Mars’ 24k Magic received the Favorite Pop/ Rock Album and Favorite Soul/ R&B Album awards. Mars’ “That’s What I Like”, his latest multi-platinum No. 1 hit, was named the Favorite Soul/ R&B Song and the Video of the Year. Click here to read more.

Receiving the Artist of the Year award at the AMAs comes with a bigger prize: an exclusive radio channel featuring the artist’s top hits and music. Sirius XM tweeted that Bruno Mars would get his own featured radio channel.
After Mars heard the news, he asked fans to photoshop an image of him with seven awards in his hands. The AMAs and Mars’ fans tweeted their pictures. International fan favorite BTS, a K-Pop group, turned heads with their U.S. debut at the American Music Awards. Their performance of “DNA”, their latest No. 1 single, featured choreography and a colorful background. BTS received a roar of applause after their performance and fans cried. Missed the 2017 AMAs? First, BTS spoke with Laura Marano on the red carpet. Marano expressed her support towards the K-Pop group. In the rehearsal room, AJ Gibson talked with BTS. Then BTS mentioned that Love Yourself: Her represents a positive message. This positive message is the importance of loving yourself. BTS’ Love Yourself: Her debuted on September 18.
“To love others, you must first love yourself,” BTS said.

Demi Lovato performed “Sorry Not Sorry” at the 2017 American Music Awards. This single is featured on Lovato’s Tell Me You Love Me. Before Demi started singing, a series of insulting tweets briefly flashed on the screen. Then Demi told the audience that “Sorry Not Sorry” is an anti-bullying anthem. Demi sang while sporting an all-black ensemble, and her backup dancers wore matching outfits. Demi sent the message that people should unapologetically be themselves. The legendary Diana Ross surprised her fans as she introduced her grandchildren during her live performance on the show. See the YouTube clip below:
Diana Ross performed a live medley of her hit songs: “I’m Coming Out,” “Take Me Higher,” and “Best Years of My Life” at the 2017 American Music Awards. Ross wore a black dress, black gloves, big black hair, and a purple scarf. Onstage, Ross’s family presented her with the AMAs lifetime achievement award.
