Professional skater Mirai Nagasu made history by landing the Triple Axel at this year’s Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. She is the third woman to achieve this feat. Here’s the scoop:
Mirai Nagasu made history by becoming the first American woman to land a Triple Axel at the Winter Olympics. Nagasu’s outstanding skating routine displayed her athletic strength, effortless technicality, and hard work. By landing the historic triple axel, Mirai Nagasu helped Team USA win the bronze medal at this year’s Winter Olympics. Nagasu also achieved the rare, impressive feat of landing a triple axel internationally at the Olympic Games. Nagasu’s skating routine received a total score of 137.53 points, the sum of 73.38 technical points and 64.15 component points. This is truly inspiring.
