Rami Malek joined Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe, and Viggo Mortensen as the list of Best Actor nominees. Malek was named Best Actor during the live Oscars telecast. Malek’s emotional acceptance speech empowered rock band Queen, his cast and crew, and immigrants.

“Thank you, Queen. Thank you, guys, for being… for allowing me to be the tiniest part of your phenomenal, extraordinary legacy. I am forever in your debt,” Malek expressed.

Malek referred to his cast and crew as his ‘equals and betters’. Then, Malek told the audience he used to struggle with his identity as a child. He stated that “Bohemian Rhapsody” portrays the unapologetic spirit of Freddie Mercury. Malek added that he is a first-generation American and the son of immigrants from Egypt. Malek expressed gratitude to his supporters and said he will always treasure this Oscars experience. Lastly, Malek spoke heartfelt words to Lucy Boynton. Malek received a lot of applause after winning the Oscar for Best Actor.
