The 2022 GRAMMYs took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and Trevor Noah hosted this year’s music awards show. Silk Sonic and the Foo Fighters received multiple awards. Here is a quick recap:
At center stage, Silk Sonic performed “Leave the Door Open” and “777”. These songs are featured on Silk Sonic’s latest album, An Evening with Silk Sonic. Bruno Mars sang and played his green Fender Stratocaster guitar, while Anderson .Paak rapped and played drums effortlessly. This energetic performance featured a brass section, keyboards, and percussion instruments. Silk Sonic swept several major categories at the GRAMMYs, as “Leave the Door Open” won in the following categories: Best R&B Performance (tied with Jasmine Sullivan), Best R&B Song, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
The Foo Fighters swept the rock categories, as the band won three GRAMMYs: Best Rock Song (“Waiting on a War”), Best Rock Performance (“Making a Fire”), and Best Rock Album (“Medicine at Midnight”). The Foo Fighters did not attend the GRAMMYs this year and they also canceled their tour… During the live telecast, Billie Eilish paid tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins (iconic Foo Fighters drummer) while wearing a custom-made shirt designed by Willy Chavarria. Eilish performed this moving tribute with her brother FINNEAS.
