Highlights from 2024 Latin GRAMMYs

On November 14, 2024, the 25th Latin Grammys aired live from Miami’s Kaseya Center. Édgar Barrera, Karol G, and Bad Bunny received over seven nominations. This event celebrated the global movement of Latin music while paying homage to some of the biggest pioneers of this genre. Here are the highlights:

An iconic Colombian singer and entrepreneur, Carlos Vives shined during the 2024 Latin GRAMMYs. He presented the Album of the Year award to Juan Luis Guerra 4.40 for his work on the Radio Güira album. Jon Bon Jovi and Alejandro Sanz presented the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year award to Carlos Vives. A pioneer in Latin music, Vives received major recognition with a signature sound incorporating rhythms of the traditional Colombian vallenato genre.

Dominican singer and producer Juan Luis Guerra 4.40’s signature sound blends rhythms including bachata, merengue, jazz, cumbia, and pop. Guerra, who received five nominations this year, performed “Mambo 23” live at the 25th Latin GRAMMYs. He also received four awards during this live telecast. Guerra’s “Mambo 23” was named Record of the Year and Best Tropical Song. Also, Guerra’s Radio Güira album received the Album of the Year and Best Merengue/Bachata Album awards. As a trailblazing Latin music icon, Juan Luis Guerra has sold over 15 million records and won over 27+ Latin Grammy Awards.

With eight nominations, Karol G and Bad Bunny received recognition at the Latin GRAMMYs. Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season), which landed at number three on the U.S. Billboard 200, received a Latin GRAMMY for the Melhor Álbum de Música “Urban” category. With 50M+ Spotify listeners, Colombian singer Karol G delivered a speech sincerely voicing her gratitude and thanking her family.

Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny also received eight nominations. “Monaco” was nominated for Record of the Year. Bad Bunny’s “Monaco” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. Also, Bad Bunny’s “Perro Negro” (featuring Colombian singer Feid) peaked at No. 1 for Latin Airplay. The “Perro Negro” single received a Latin GRAMMY for the Mejor Interpretación Reggaeton category. With over 65M+ Spotify listeners, He dedicated the award to his mom, dad, and little sister.

The 2024 Latin GRAMMYs included a show-stopping performance lineup. Marc Anthony and La India sang “Vivir Lo Nuestro” live. There was also an incredible tribute to Mexican legends Juan Gabriel, José José, and Vicente Fernández. Carlos Rivera and David Bisbal performed José José’s “El Triste”.
