On Monday and Tuesday, NBC’s The Voice aired episode 3 of their twelfth season. This week, The Voice wrapped up their blind auditions. All four teams are now filled with diversely talented singers. Here is the latest scoop:
Kenny P. sang “Hello It’s Me” by Todd Rundgren. His blind audition has over 685,000 YouTube views. During Kenny’s audition, he wore a hat with his signature mustache and a plaid blue shirt. Kenny is 30 and he’s from Cleveland, Ohio. Click here to read Kenny P.’s story.
Blake said he could make a fortune with his mustache and voice. Gwen commented that she can relate to his signature, theatrical look. Adam thought Kenny would be a great addition to Team Gwen. However, Alicia believed Kenny would shine on Team Blake.
Gwen and Blake wanted to work with Kenny P. He chose: TEAM GWEN.
Chris Blue sang “The Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. He sported a signature fedora, shirt, and jacket while performing. Chris is 26 and he is from Knoxville, Tennessee. On March 15, Chris Blue’s audition landed the #10 and #12 positions on YouTube’s trending list. Now, his audition has 1 million YouTube views.
Chris Blue developed his vocal techniques with the help of God, his mother, and Adam Levine’s records. Chris has six siblings and worked as a worship leader. Alicia Keys asked Chris to bring his supportive family to the stage. He proposed to Stephanie after she recovered from bone marrow cancer. Click here to read Chris’s story.
The other coaches were unable to turn around because their teams were full. So, Chris joined: TEAM ALICIA. Alicia mentioned that she was looking for a bluesy, soulful artist.
Alicia Keys announced that, with the addition of Chris Blue, her team is now full.
Nala Price sang “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” by Adele. Nala is 17 and she’s from Sebring, Florida. She aspires to become a professional dancer, actor, and singer. Nala’s blind audition has over 888,000 YouTube views. Click here to read Nala’s story.
Adam Levine was blown away by Nala’s performance. Adam said that Nala’s strong voice control and vocal techniques showed throughout the performance. He added that, at only 17, Nala is ready to sing on live television. Gwen said that Nala understood the lyrics of the song. Also, Gwen mentioned that Nala showcased all the sides of her voice well during the performance.
Gwen and Adam wanted to work with Nala Price. She chose: TEAM ADAM.
Valerie Ponzio sang “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash. Valerie is 32 and she is from El Paso, Texas. She sported dark hair and wore a bright yellow dress. All four coaches turned during her performance. Valerie’s audition has over 872,000 YouTube views. She is a country Americana singer and a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. Click here to read Valerie’s story.
Adam told Valerie that she is the most well-rounded singer that he has heard. Valerie said that all the coaches are inspirational. After Valerie said Gwen Stefani was one of her inspirations, Gwen kissed her cheek. Blake Shelton told Valerie that the most loyal fans in the industry are country fans.
All coaches wanted to work with Valerie. She chose: TEAM BLAKE.
Now The Voice moves into the next stage: battle rounds. Season 12 of The Voice will feature a series of intense television battles. John Legend, DJ Khaled, Celine Dion, and Luke Bryan will help mentor the singers next week. NBC’s The Voice tweeted about next week’s featured guests:
